Nahed Makhlouf, MD, Professor. She is currently working as a Professor of
Tropical Medicine and Gastroenterology, Assiut University, Assiut. Egypt. Prof.
Makhlouf is the Head of the Medical Team of Liver Transplantation at Al-Rajhi Liver
Hospital, Assiut, Egypt (since 2018).
Graduate and Postgraduate Education Degrees/training:
Prof. Makhlouf had MD degree from Assiut University (2009). Assistant Professor
(2014). Professor (2019). Diploma degree for Medical Education (2021).
Prof. Makhlouf had training in Ain Shams Specialized Hospital and Wady El Nile
Hospital with Liver Transplantation Medical Team (2015-2016).
– Membership: Prof. Makhlouf is a member of Egyptian Association for the Study of
Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases (EASGLD), Egyptian Association of Viral
hepatitis, Egyptian Association for Research and Training in HepatoGastroenterology (EARTH), and Egyptian Transplantation Society.
-Publications: She authored numerous articles in International and National Journals
and presented some of her work at numerous meetings and conferences. She
participated in doing 2 National Consensuses one of them related to LDLT.
Fields of expertise and research: Viral hepatitis B, C, D. Liver cirrhosis and its
complications. Abdominal US and Point Shear wave elastography (ARFI) – LDLT.
She is interested in Multicentre Studies. She shared in doing Systematic Reviews in
the field of Hepatology and Gastroenterology. She is expert in revising programs and
courses specifications for postgraduates in Quality Assurance Unit, Assiut University.
Awards and Grants: Co-author (Researcher 2) in a grant from Science and
Technology Development Fund (STDF) Project ID: 3261.
She received the third prize in the competition for the best internationally published
research from the Faculty of Medicine, Assiut University (2016). She received a
certificate of thanks and appreciation from the Quality Assurance Unit at the Faculty
of Medicine for the effective contribution to the Faculty’s obtaining accreditation from
the National Authority for Quality Assurance of Higher Education in 2018.
